Samsung has unwrapped a brand-new way to watch your favourite TV shows, sports, and movies.
Dubbed the Freestyle+, this new portable projector is a follow-up to the original Freestyle launched back in 2022 for £549. Samsung has refreshed its projector with a slew of new Artificial Intelligence (AI) features to supercharge your shows and films on the biggest possible canvas — the wall or ceiling in your home.
The Freestyle+ portable projector is designed to bring the big-screen experience to your home without forcing you to commit to a large wall-mounted TV or a permanent projector setup. Think of it as a smart, portable cinema you can take anywhere — the wall in your living room, the ceiling of your bedroom. Since it's battery powered, you can take it away on holiday to use outside, or even bring it to a friend's place for a movie night.
“The Freestyle+ reflects Samsung’s vision to create displays that adapt naturally to how people live and move between spaces,” said Hun Lee, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “By combining true portability with intelligent AI that optimizes both the viewing environment and the content itself, The Freestyle+ makes it easier to enjoy a consistent, high-quality experience wherever you are.”

The Samsung Freestyle is a lightweight, portable projector that turns any flat surface into a big screen — walls, floors, even ceilings — without a separate screen. It automatically adjusts focus and image shape, streams apps like a smart TV, and has 360° sound built in. Ideal for movie nights, parties, or travel, it brings flexible, TV-style entertainment wherever you go.

The Freestyle+ aims to tackle two of the biggest frustrations many usually have with projectors — a fiddly setup and a dim display.
It will achieve this with the brand new AI OptiScreen. This handy feature means you don’t have to carefully measure distances or line things up perfectly. You can place the projector on a coffee table, bedside cabinet, or shelf, roughly point it at a wall, and it automatically adjusts the image for you.
Accompanied by the 3D Auto Keyston, it'll fix any picture distortion instantly. For example, if the projector isn’t directly facing the wall, the image is straightened automatically.
Plus, if you’re projecting from the corner of a room or from an awkward angle, you still get a neat, rectangular picture. Even if the wall itself isn’t perfectly flat either, the image is corrected in real time.

Its compact design will mirror its prior model, giving you the ability to transport it from room to room easily

It also uses Real-time Focus, where your picture stays sharp even if the projector is moved. If someone bumps the table, or you decide to slide the projector closer to make the image bigger, it quickly refocuses without you needing to dig into settings menus.
Then there’s Wall Calibration, which is surprisingly useful in everyday homes. Not everyone has a plain white wall or a dedicated projector screen. Whether you’re projecting onto a cream or grey wall, wallpaper with a pattern, or a painted feature wall, the projector analyses the surface and tweaks the colours so skin tones don’t look strange and whites don’t appear yellow or dull.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS
In terms of design, the Freestyle+ will mirror the overall look of its predecessor with its compact, cylindrical design, making it light enough to carry around easily. It’s the kind of device you can move from room to room without thinking about it, or even pack into a bag for trips away.
Its Brightness is said to be where you’ll really notice the upgrade from The Freestyle. The projector now outputs 430 ISO Lumens, nearly double what the previous model offered. In everyday terms, that means you don’t have to sit in complete darkness to see what’s on screen.
You can experience casual viewing with lamps on, or during the early evening. The image is built to also hold up better in brighter rooms or open-plan spaces.
It won’t replace a TV in full daylight, but it’s quite an upgrade from your typical viewing experience on a projector.

You can use the 180-degree rotating design to project on various surfaces, as seen on the prior model

One of its most flexible features is the 180-degree rotating design. Instead of needing a tripod or awkward mounting solution, the projector itself rotates smoothly.
With this, you'd be able to watch a film projected onto the bedroom ceiling while lying in bed or project onto the floor for gaming.
To use the Freestyle+, you won't need to connect extra boxes or streaming sticks either. It comes with built-in access to:
- Samsung TV Plus
- Popular streaming services like Netflix and Disney+
- Samsung Gaming Hub, which lets you stream games without a console (with a compatible controller)
For sound, there’s a built-in 360-degree speaker that fills the room evenly, meaning you don’t need separate speakers just to get started. It’s designed to be loud and clear enough for casual viewing, whether you’re watching a film, TV show, or playing games.
If you already own a Samsung soundbar, the Q-Symphony feature also allows both the projector and soundbar to play together, creating a fuller and more immersive audio experience without complicated setup.
This isn't the only new type of telly you can expect to release in the coming months, either. LG Electronics is planning to rival Samsung's The Frame with its own variation, which is a TV that displays the artwork of your choice when you're not watching your favourite shows or movies.
If you're eager to get your hands on the new projector, Samsung says the Freestyle+ will roll out globally in phases during the first half of 2026. Pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but if it's similar to their prior projector, you could expect to see it around the £500 price point
