If you watch on a Roku device, you’ve been treated to a swathe of new channels to watch without spending a penny.
The Roku Channel has added 22 new live channels to its lineup. This ad-supported channel is available to anyone with no need to create an account, pay a monthly subscription, enter credit card details for a free trial – it's 100% free of charge. The new additions are part of a recent expansion of FAST (Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV) channels on Roku devices, which started in October.
FAST channels are increasingly popular in the UK, offering a terrestrial-like viewing experience over a decent Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection. But unlike the biggest UK broadcasters, there's no TV licence fee to worry about — everything is free of charge, funded by ad breaks.
Their arrival comes just after the streaming platform added five other new channels for at no extra cost — packed with popular British shows like The Graham Norton Show, Hell's Kitchen, Hotel Inspector, and River Monsters. In total, the Roku Channel has over 500 channels, which initially launched in September 2017.
This new lineup is varied — covering everything from beloved classic telly programmes to niche sports coverage.

The lineup from above includes a mix of international and niche channels spanning entertainment, sport, and lifestyle content. You can watch MTV en Español alongside Vive Kanal D Drama for Turkish programming, as well as Jail En Español, which focuses on Spanish-language reality content set in a prison environment.
Elsewhere, the selection stretches from classic TV and films like The Beverly Hillbillies, Rawhide Pluto, and The Hunger Games 4-Film Collection, to reality and lifestyle favourites such as Property Brothers and Ink Master.
Roku is available on standalone hardware, like its popular Streaming Sticks, as well as Smart TVs. The latter are packed with all of the same smarts found inside its set-top boxes, but don't need anything else plugged into the HDMI ports to unlock streamers like Prime Video, Netflix, Apple TV+, Disney+, YouTube, BBC iPlayer, ITVX, as well as popular social media apps, and games.
The brand recently signed an agreement with Freely to bring its free-to-air channels to its platform too.
The latter is tipped to supersede Freeview as the most popular way to watch terrestrial channels by the end of this decade. Roku TVs are available from well-known manufacturers like JVC, Sharp and Polaroid in a range of sizes from compact to large 4K HDR screens. How to watch Roku's FAST content
All of Roku's FAST content is available to access via the Roku Channel and the Live TV Zone. If you have a Roku TV or Roku streaming stick, you can follow these steps:
- Press the Home button
- Scroll to “Live TV” or “Live TV Channel Guide”
- Open it to see: FAST channels from Roku or (Optional) Antenna channels if you have one connected
- Scroll through and select a channel to start watching
