Honor has released its all-new flagship Magic8 Pro handset in the UK, packed with powerful new Artificial Intelligence (AI) features and a supercharged new camera to make your photos look crisp — night or day.

If you're not familiar with Honor, it's a Chinese technology brand that designs and manufactures smartphones, wearables, laptops, and other smart devices. Originally launched as a sub-brand of Huawei, it was spun-off into an independent company in 2020. As such, its gadgets arrive with Google Play Store and all of the other services you'd expect from a modern Android phone, something that still isn't the case with Huawei, thanks to the US ban.

The arrival of the Magic8 Pro comes weeks after the Magic8 Lite. It follows Honor's latest foldable mobile, the Magic V5, which arrived in the UK last summer. During the keynote address, Honor confirmed that it's now the second bestselling brand for foldables in the UK, nipping at the heels of Galaxy Z Fold 7 maker, Samsung.

So what makes the Magic8 Pro stand out from prior models?

The Honor Magic8 Pro packs a powerful 200MP SuperNight Camera with a new 3.7x optical zoom and AI stabilisation for sharper shots, even in low light. It’s powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, delivers all-day battery life, and includes built-in AI to spot scam calls in real time.

When you buy the all-new Magic8 Pro from Honor's online site, you can get a gift bundle with purchase worth £814 — including the Magic Pad 3, Choice Watch 2 Pro, and Wireless Charger Stand.

For starters, it comes built with a 200MP SuperNight Camera, which Honor says is built for capturing crystal clear shots, even in dark lighting.

This can be especially useful if you're snapping photos at a dimly lit restaurant or catching the sunset on a winter evening. The camera uses a large 1/1.4-inch sensor and a wide f/2.6 aperture to pull in more light, meaning your pictures come out clearer even when you're zooming in from a distance.

On top of that, you'll also get a 3.7x optical zoom too — a first for the Magic series. In comparison, the Magic7 Pro only boasts 3x optical zoom.

If you want to capture photos from a great distance, you can even zoom up to 10x and still get a crisp shot. According to Honor, the camera is "well beyond what the latest iPhone and Samsung can do."

However, the really clever bit is Honor's AI stabilisation tech. The company says you're seven times more likely to get sharp zoomed shots without needing a tripod or gimbal. This is especially handy in nighttime photography because it's more prone to blurring, or if you've got shaky hands.

Beyond the camera, Honor has loaded this phone with AI features designed to keep you safe from scammers. For instance, fake videos or voice-clone fraud are on the rise. This is a sophisticated scheme where fraudsters are impersonating others through the use of footage or replicated audio.

In the first few months of 2025 alone, a third of UK businesses were targeted by this type of scam.

This mobile can now do the heavy lifting and spot them in real-time during video and audio calls, alerting you if something dodgy is going on.

Like Honor's other handsets, Google Gemini is built in, while Honor's own AI runs locally on the device. You can use these features to intelligently decipher on-screen content, interpret your commands, and act directly across system settings and applications. A dedicated AI Button on the side lets you quickly access these with a long press.

You can also double-tap the same button to launch the camera function instantly.

Under the bonnet, you're getting the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor just like the Magic V5. That means more demanding tasks like advanced gaming will display smoothly across your screen without any lag.

In terms of battery life, it's set to last all day under heavy use — meaning you can stream, edit photos and videos, and browse without fear of your phone dying in the middle of the day.

If you already own products from Apple, Windows, and others, you can also connect the Magic8 Pro seamlessly with your other devices. For instance, you can send photos to your other gadgets using Honor Connect, which works very similarly to Apple's AirDrop.

This new mobile costs £1099, which is equal to the cost of the Apple iPhone 17 Pro.

Not only can you grab the Magic8 Pro from Honor's very own site, but it's also available today through EE, Vodafone, Three, Virgin Media O2, Currys, Amazon, Argos, and Very.
