The price range for the next Grand Theft Auto has been confirmed, and it's cheaper than earlier speculations.
Stylised as Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6), this is the sequel to Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5), which is the biggest-selling entertainment product in history — bringing in $1 billion in revenue since its release in 2013.
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has strongly hinted that the game will cost somewhere between $70 and $80, which roughly equates to about £52 to £60. While this isn't a definitive price reveal, it does give deeper insight into what can be expected.
Earlier rumours about the price were much higher — suggesting they could climb as high as $100 or even $150.
The topic of pricing arose during Mr. Zelnick’s interview with The Game Business, while he was discussing featured in-game advertising. — indicating that GTA 6 won't feature intrusive, unskippable ads while you're playing.
"It's very difficult for me to believe that we would want to have interstitial advertising in a game that someone paid 70 or 80 bucks for," Zelnick explained. "That would seem unfair."
Mr Zelnick did note that some games from Take Two, like NBA 2K feature limited advertising, but only where it makes sense – like billboards in virtual stadiums, which mirrors real life.
Hints about pricing are emerging just as fans have begun spotting clues about when preorders will open.
Unique game codes for GTA 6 have started to pop up in the backend of PlayStation's system ahead of its official release date on November 19, 2026. These title IDs are essentially digital fingerprints that identify games on the platform, and they typically show up right before preorders go live.
The discovery comes from X user PlayStation Game Size, a well-known account that tracks behind-the-scenes changes to Sony's store.
Grand Theft Auto VI title IDs have been added to the PlayStation database.

GTA 6 has also had a pretty big influence on the gaming industry. Popular games like this one can directly impact the release dates of new consoles because hardware manufacturers — like Sony and Microsoft — rely on newer high-profile games to give you more of a reason to upgrade to compatible consoles when they launch, such as the PS5.
Piers Harding-Rolls, a gaming research director at Ampere, currently forecasts new PlayStation and Xbox hardware arriving in late 2027. He speculates that Sony could be tempted to wait until 2028 instead.
Mr Harding-Rolls explains, "Might the console companies be tempted to get more from the current console generation by riding the Grand Theft Auto VI wave and waiting until 2028? The fact that games are now cross-gen makes this less of a factor, perhaps, but such is the size of the GTA franchise, the launch timing will get all areas of the games business thinking about their product strategies."
