Android users can now create labels in their Gmail inbox for the first time — almost seven years after the iPhone first received the same feature.
Labels give you the ability to create subfolders to organise your incoming emails, whether that be monthly household bills, upcoming trip itinerary information, or work project details. It's a handy tool in the arsenal for those who want to reach "Inbox Zero" and are struggling to wrestle a bulging inbox.
To activate the Label feature, you'll first want to navigate to your Gmail app on either your mobile or tablet

You'll need to select Create Label, enter a name, and then click Save. If you ever want to alter these labels, you'll need to navigate back to Settings and select your account. Tap on Manage Labels, and then edit any of the labels that need changes. These adjustments will be reflected in your inbox across all of the correspondence that carries that label. Finally, to ditch an unwanted label, you can select Delete under the Manage Labels heading.

If you've also used Gmail from your desktop, then you may already be familiar with this feature and how it works. Likewise, if you've previously owned an iPhone, you'll also likely be well-versed in how the feature works... in fact, only the Gmail app for Android was missing this functionality.
