I constantly have some type of earbuds with me — whether I’m travelling abroad, commuting to work, or typing away at my laptop. So, when my last pair finally gave out, I knew I needed a replacement — and fast.
With so many earbuds on the market, it can be overwhelming to choose the right pair. But I immediately gravitated toward the AirPods 4. Their sleek design, reliable connectivity, and excellent sound quality made them an easy choice for my daily routine.
And if you're looking to replace yours too, there's never been a better time.
The AirPods 4 have been marked to their lowest ever price on Amazon for £99. However, if you're a member of British retailer AO, you can get them for even cheaper at £79.
Usually £119, these wireless 'buds launched last year with a refreshed design and new acoustic architecture to deliver a substantial boost to sound quality.
So, what gives the AirPods 4 my nod of approval?

AirPods 4 launch with an almost unrecognisable new design that bolsters comfort and greater stability when exercising. Despite the shorter stem, AirPods 4 still offer beam-forming for hands-free access calls and commands to AI assistant, Siri. You can also quick-press to control music or calls. A quick shake of the head will dismiss an incoming call, while you can nod to accept — handy if your hands are full.
You can also opt for the model that boasts Active Noise-Cancellation (ANC) for £129. This eliminates unwanted background sound, so you're able to enjoy your favourite playlist, podcast, or audiobook at a lower volume, even in noisy environments
With its refresh in design, Apple added several features that were previously reserved for the pricier Pro-level AirPods. For example, AirPods 4 support Personalised Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking, so that sounds remain mapped out in three-dimensional space even as you're moving your head.
One of its standout features (and my personal favourite) is that these 'buds will automatically raise or lower the volume depending on your environment. For instance, if you're commuting into a busy train station, the higher noise level will be detected, and the volume will be raised without you having to move a finger
If you're someone who needs Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) to cut out every distraction, though, you can also opt for the AirPods 4 with ANC on sale for £129, which is a separate model to the regular AirPods 4. This is a specialised technology that uses anti-noise sound waves to block unwanted background noise

Apple's AirPods 4 have been re-engineered from the ground up to offer active noise-cancellation without the need for intrusive silicon eartips
| APPLE PRESS OFFICEWith the AirPods 4, you can also nod your head to accept incoming calls or gently shake your head to dismiss a call. Siri will announce incoming text messages, emails, and other important notifications — allowing you to dictate replies with a simple voice command, without ever needing to take your iPhone out of your pocket. As someone who's always on the go, this feature is especially helpful.
To charge them, you can use an Apple Watch charger or Qi2-certified charger. And they charge quickly, too. A 5-minute charge can give you a boost of up to 45 minutes of listening time.
Its charging case is just 50mm wide, which is the smallest in the industry with wireless charging capabilities. They easily fit in my pocket as I'm walking out the door.
