"It kind of represents who I am right now—a very navy guy," said Federer in an interview with GQ.

"I love this colour- it's so easy to combine. There's also a tennis spirit running through the collection, which everyone wanted to see."

Federer also shared his preference for polo shirts in tennis fashion during the event.

"In tennis, we're lucky to be able to mix and match," said the Swiss.

"Polo shirts are very common at Uniqlo, so I wanted to do something using other materials. I wanted to include a polo shirt in this collection because tennis is a polo sport. You can wear sleeveless shirts or shirts with extravagant prints, but for tennis, the best thing is a polo shirt. It's timeless and elegant."
