The duo won't be working together at Roland Garros

Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray will 'no longer be working together', it has been announced.

The duo teamed up for the Australian Open at the start of the year, with Djokovic proceeding to make the semi-finals of the tournament before withdrawing due to injury.

With the start of the French Open just weeks away, tennis fans had been hoping to see the alliance continue.

Yet Murray's representatives have now announced the pair will 'no longer be working together'.

Tennis fans have already flocked to social media to react to the news, with many feeling the partnership was always likely to come to a premature end.

"That experiment was only for the vibes anyway," wrote one fan.

A second said: "Wow, I think he [Djokovic] will retire after this year anyway."

Another opined: "It was both fascinating and awkward."

And a fourth wrote: "Should have kept him until Wimbledon. Just to have the crowd on his side."

Djokovic himself has also reacted, with the Serb writing a short message on social media.

"Thank you, coach Andy, for all the hard work, fun & support over last six months on & off the court.

"I really enjoyed deepening our friendship together."

Djokovic opted to hire Murray as a coach shortly before the Australian Open in January.

Some felt it was a surprising move given the Briton's lack of coaching experience, having only retired from tennis last year.

Djokovic did well to make the semi-finals of the Australian Open, with the former world No 1 eventually forced to withdraw due to injury.

He has struggled for consistency in 2025, however, with some fans wondering if the 24-time Grand Slam winner is now past his best.

LATEST SPORTS NEWS:

Djokovic will be hoping to win the French Open when the Grand Slam kicks off on May 25.

The 37-year-old first won the prestigious event in 2016 when he overcame Murray with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4 victory.

Djokovic won his second title at Roland Garros in 2021 when he beat Stefanos Tsitsipas in a five-set thriller.

He then claimed his third win on the clay courts of Paris in 2023, with Casper Ruud beaten on that occasion.

As for Murray, it's unclear what the future holds.

Reacting to his split from Djokovic, the Scot said: "Thanks to Novak for the unbelievable opportunity to work together, and thanks to his team for all their hard work over the past six months.

"I wish Novak all the best for the rest of the season."
