David Beckham’s talent-filled Inter Miami were outclassed by Minnesota United during their 4-1 loss on Saturday - but it was their social media antics that the 50-year-old took offence to.
The former England captain’s team suffered its heaviest loss since eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi joined the side in July 2023.
The Argentine scored in the second half but it was not enough to stop Inter’s fourth loss in five games in all competitions.
After their win at home, Minnesota posted a photo on their Instagram with the caption “Pink Phony Club”, in reference to Inter Miami’s kit colour and the Chappell Roan song Pink Pony Club.

Their post also included a photo of the league table, showing Minnesota moving above Inter.
Beckham, who co-owns the Major League Soccer club, commented on their post, writing: “Show a little respect, be elegant in triumph.”
United, who are managed by Welshman Eric Ramsey, then posted a picture of a banner that was shown at the game that read: “History over hype, culture over cash”, with the words “hype and cash” highlighted in pink.

They brought in former Argentina and Barcelona midfielder Javier Mascherano in November, but lost in the semi-finals of the Concacaf Champions Cup and are currently only fourth in the MLS Eastern Conference.
Their team is littered with stars, including Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba, as well as Messi.
Following the 4-1 loss, Miami manager Mascherano said: “We didn’t play the game we wanted.
LATEST SPORTS NEWS:
"In the first half, we had control and possession, but two plays—especially due to lapses in concentration—caused us a lot of damage in a match we had under control.”
He added: "Both the second and third goals really hurt us.
"The second one, because going into halftime down by just one goal keeps you within reach of an equaliser—and the way we conceded it, through a mistake, made it worse. The third goal came when we were in a good phase of the match and it killed us.”
