John McEnroe has provided his verdict after Jannik Sinner overcame Carlos Alcaraz in the final of Wimbledon on Sunday.
Sinner, who had lost to the same opponent just weeks previously following a gruelling five-and-a-half hour match at the French Open, secured his first major on grass with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 victory.
The Italian was imperious on the day, with Alcaraz powerless to prevent the first Grand Slam final defeat of his career.
Both players look poised to dominate the sport for many years to come, with their rivalry only just getting started.

McEnroe, per the Daily Express, has now provided his assessment - with the tennis icon believing that Sinner's triumph 'elevates the overall rivalry'.
“This Sinner win over Alcaraz elevates the overall rivalry. None of the others are at the level of these two guys right now," he said.
"That is the challenge for the rest of men’s tennis.
“They can develop and catch up but they are going to have to dig really deep to get close to this because these guys are not exactly holding back in their work ethic and their desire to win.”
