The world No1 made easy work of the Wimbledon great

Jannik Sinner will be facing Carlos Alcaraz in a repeat of the French Open final after defeating Novak Djokovic in straight sets.

Djokovic looked out of sorts as he battled with an apparent groin injury throughout the match, requiring a trainer to come and work on his leg at the end of the second set.

Sinner took advantage and played one of his best games on a grass court as he beat the 24-time Grand Slam winner 6-3, 6-3, 6-4.

The world No1 will now play in his first Wimbledon final against two-time defending champion Alcaraz.

Sinner delivered a commanding performance in the opening set of his Wimbledon semi-final against Djokovic, breaking the Serbian's serve twice to establish early dominance on Centre Court.

The Italian sealed the opening set in emphatic fashion, firing down an ace to complete a near-flawless display of tennis that left Djokovic with few answers to the relentless assault.

The momentum continued into the second set as Sinner maintained his exceptional level of play. His combination of raw power and pinpoint accuracy proved too much for Djokovic to handle, with the Italian dictating rallies from the baseline.

Medical staff attended to Djokovic during a break in play, with the Serbian appearing to receive treatment for a leg issue. The injury concerns stemmed from an incident earlier in the tournament when Djokovic suffered a fall during his quarter-final match.

The medical timeout raised immediate questions about whether the 24-time Grand Slam champion would be able to mount any meaningful resistance against Sinner's dominant display.

The treatment break marked a concerning development for Djokovic's hopes of extending his remarkable Wimbledon record.

LATEST SPORTS NEWS:

Despite the injury concerns, Djokovic demonstrated his championship mettle by mounting a spirited fightback in the third set. The Serbian secured a crucial break of serve, energising the Centre Court crowd who rallied behind the former champion.

BBC Commentator John Mcenroe noted how the crowd were lifting the Serbian "the crowd are very much on Novak Djokovic's side now, He's been wanting love for a long time out there but he's getting it now." Djokovic consolidated the break with a comfortable hold to 15, suddenly transferring the pressure back onto Sinner.
