The Channel 4 presenter admitted doctors ordered her to slow down following the recent procedure

Jasmine Harman has revealed she is recovering from a hernia operation that has forced her to step back from work for two weeks.

The 50-year-old A Place in the Sun presenter shared the update with her social media followers on Monday, explaining she would be missing her usual Monday morning Zumba class while she recuperates.

In a video posted to Instagram, Ms Harman showed a photo where she appeared to be wearing a hospital gown, as she opened up about the procedure.

The presenter, who has fronted the popular Channel 4 show since 2004, explained she had been “a bit quiet” on social media recently due to the surgery.

“Normally on a Monday morning, if I'm not working, I would be doing my Zumba class. Today I'm not doing it,” she told fans.

“Reason being, I'm recovering from surgery. I had to have a small surgical procedure — nothing serious — just a little hernia operation.”

Ms Harman admitted despite the procedure being relatively minor, it had still left her feeling drained.

“Although it's a small procedure, any kind of surgery really knocks the wind out of your sails,” she said.

The television personality added that doctors had instructed her to rest, joking that slowing down was “easier said than done” for somebody used to constantly being busy.

Fans quickly flooded the comments section with supportive messages.

One follower wrote: “Rest up, Jasmine...resting is difficult... watched a place in the sun earlier, lovely episode."

Another commented: “Hope the recovery goes smoothly … I had a small procedure last Tuesday too so am resting also.”

Others encouraged Ms Harman to make the most of the warm weather while taking time to recover, with one fan suggesting it “shouldn't be too bad to relax in that stunning weather".

"Take care and get well soon. Kindest regards from Scotland," another fan penned, as someone else said: "Delighted it went well, a hernia can be very painful, get yourself a good book and put your feet up for a few days x."

The health update comes months after Ms Harman spoke candidly about what she described as an “awful” and “embarrassing” experience during a smear test appointment earlier this year.

The presenter revealed a male nurse recognised her from television midway through the examination.

“He looked up and looked at me and went, ‘Oh, I've just realised where I recognise you from,’” she recalled at the time.

Despite the awkward encounter, the TV star used the experience to encourage women to attend cervical screening appointments and not put off important health checks.

The presenter previously revealed her husband, Jon Boast, suffered a mild heart attack while the couple were filming for their Channel 4 property programme, an ordeal she later said taught her the importance of managing stress and slowing down.

Following the death of her former A Place in the Sun co-star Jonnie Irwin after his battle with cancer, Ms Harman has also spoken candidly about the importance of prioritising wellbeing and appreciating life.
