The Italian has faced significant challenges beyond romantic speculation. He completed a three-month suspension in February following an appeal by the World Anti-Doping Agency, despite an initial finding of "no fault or negligence" after testing positive for clostebol in March 2024.

He also encountered criticism in Italy after withdrawing from the Paris Olympics due to tonsillitis. When questioned about addressing his detractors, he responded: "I've never responded, and I don't even want to respond."

Despite these setbacks, he's maintained his position atop the ATP rankings since June 2024 and secured four Grand Slam titles.

His reluctance to discuss personal matters extends beyond romantic relationships. The athlete emphasised the importance of off the court behaviour and privacy.

"I think you become No1 not only on the tennis court but also by how you handle things off the court, how you behave," he explained.

He credited sports psychologist Riccardo Ceccarelli with helping develop his mental resilience, acknowledging the extensive work required to build psychological strength.
