This marks Raducanu's most successful US Open campaign since her remarkable title run four years ago, with the 22-year-old advancing beyond the second round at Flushing Meadows for the first time since that historic triumph.
Raducanu's serving proved particularly formidable, with the world number 36 delivering eight aces whilst securing 76 per cent of points behind her first delivery.

The match began with an immediate statement as Raducanu secured an early break, though she faced resistance when saving three break points whilst establishing a 3-0 advantage in the opening set.
Following that brief challenge, the British player's performance approached perfection, securing another break to close out the first set before surging to a commanding 5-0 advantage in the second.
Tim Henman, providing courtside analysis for Sky Sports, observed: "It's absolutely top quality from Raducanu because she's just not giving her opponent any time to breathe, she's just suffocating her in the rallies, she's not giving her any unforced errors."
And many fans agreed with the former tennis star, with one supporter writing on social media: "2025 is actually the best Emma Raducanu has ever played consistently."
Another put on X: "This is totally and utterly world class from her today, refusing to acknowledge that fact is just petty and childish."
While this fan said: "She is playing SO well. Gonna be tough to beat here."

Another fan said: "Emma Raducanu is playing like someone that's won the US Open before."
And another put: "Emma Raducanu got a lot of flak for her scheduling last year upon her return from surgeries on both wrists and left ankle. I feel like her consistent results and full schedule this 2025 are evidence that she was right to be cautious about her body and workload then."
While this fan said: "Something about Raducanu in red. Her level today / as of recent makes me think we might have a repeat on our hands."
Speaking to Sky Sports following her victory, Raducanu expressed satisfaction with her performance against an opponent she recognised as particularly threatening.

"I'm very pleased with how I played today. I had to wait two days to play this second round match so that kind of breaks the rhythm a little bit," the British number one explained.
She acknowledged Tjen's recent form, noting: "I knew I was playing Janice, who is a super dangerous opponent and she was playing extremely well coming into this. I knew she would easily put away any ball I put mid-court that wasn't necessarily good enough."
The victory marked Raducanu's 26th win of 2025, representing her highest single-season victory total to date, an achievement she attributed to maintaining consistent practice routines since the Miami Open.
Tjen had entered the match with momentum after stunning 24th seed Veronika Kudermetova in her main draw debut, but Raducanu ensured the world number 149's journey ended on Louis Armstrong Stadium.

The British player now awaits the outcome of ninth seed Elena Rybakina's encounter with Czech qualifier Tereza Valentova to determine her third-round opponent.
A potential meeting with the 2022 Wimbledon champion would represent Raducanu's most significant challenge yet, having faced only qualifiers ranked outside the world's top 100 in her opening matches.
