The two tennis superstars will play together at the US Open later this year

Emma Raducanu has secured a dream partnership with two-time Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz for the US Open's reimagined mixed doubles tournament, which will now take place in the week preceding the main singles competitions.

The British No 1 will join forces with the 22-year-old Spanish sensation as part of the tournament's new scheduling format, designed to attract tennis's biggest names to the mixed doubles event.

The revamped tournament has succeeded spectacularly in drawing star power, with the provisional entry list featuring 10 Grand Slam champions amongst a glittering field that promises to generate enormous interest when play begins in New York.

Raducanu has frequently expressed her appreciation for Alcaraz's inventive and fluid playing style, having attended his victory over Novak Djokovic in last year's Wimbledon final. There have previously been rumours the pair are dating but they've always been wide of the mark.

The 2021 US Open champion revealed how studying the Spaniard's matches influenced her own performances at SW19.

"The last couple matches I've been following Carlos, and it's just good to watch before my match," she said during her run to the fourth round at Wimbledon last year.

"And sometimes in certain moments you in a way try to emulate certain shots."

The partnership marks a significant moment for Raducanu, who recently acknowledged lingering regret over withdrawing from her planned mixed doubles appearance with Andy Murray at his final Wimbledon due to a wrist injury.

The tournament's new format has attracted an extraordinary collection of tennis royalty, with Nick Kyrgios partnering four-time Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka amongst the headline pairings.

World No 1 Jannik Sinner will team with Emma Navarro, whilst Novak Djokovic has chosen to partner with fellow Serbian Olga Danilovic in what promises to be compelling viewing.
