The Spaniard overcame Novak Djokovic in four sets last Sunday

Carlos Alcaraz is poised to upset his parents once more after confirming plans for a kangaroo tattoo following his landmark Australian Open triumph.

The 22-year-old Spaniard etched his name into tennis history by becoming the youngest player ever to secure a career Grand Slam, defeating Novak Djokovic in four sets to claim his seventh major championship.

The victory in Melbourne, which netted him more than £2million in prize money, added to his existing collection of two US Open titles, two Wimbledon crowns and two French Open trophies.

However, his parents have never fully embraced their son's growing collection of body art, which he adds to after each Grand Slam success.

Alcaraz first floated the idea of Australian-themed ink a year ago, before ultimately securing the title this time around.

He has now confirmed the design remains his intention.

"I already know it's going to be a kangaroo. I just don't know the place. I'm just thinking about the leg but I don't know which calf, whether it will be the right or left one," he said this week.

The world No 1 has previously admitted to somewhat deceiving his parents about the frequency of his tattoo habit.

"I told my parents just to calm them that it was just the first one in every major," he confessed after his 2024 Wimbledon victory.

"A little one I can hide."

His tattoo tradition commenced with his maiden Grand Slam triumph at Flushing Meadows in 2022, when he had the date of that victory permanently marked on his left arm.

Following his second US Open success in 2025, he expanded the design with iconic New York imagery including the Brooklyn Bridge and Statue of Liberty.

His Wimbledon commemorations feature a strawberry positioned just above his right ankle, accompanied by the date of his 2023 breakthrough at SW19.

The date of his subsequent title defence was later added alongside it.

The French Open also earned its place on his body, with an Eiffel Tower design inked on his left leg to celebrate his 2024 Roland Garros championship.

Despite his parents' evident displeasure, Alcaraz has developed a careful approach to managing their concerns about his expanding ink collection.

Speaking to Marca, he revealed his strategy for avoiding confrontation: "I choose a discreet location.

"I'm not going to get one on my face or in the middle of my thigh, or anything like that.

"And they're relatively small tattoos, medium-sized. That's why they don't raise any red flags. It's under control."

The kangaroo will now join his growing gallery of Grand Slam mementos, with the tennis star still deliberating over which calf will bear the Australian tribute.
