Team GB’s ‘woke’ flag revamp has been thrown into question by furious Britons.

GB News’ Yorkshire and Humber reporter Anna Riley took to the streets of Hull to gauge the public sentiment towards the fresh design.

One Briton raged that culture is being ‘eradicated’ amid moves by some of the country's sporting institutions to ditch the traditional flag.

“I think it’s a disgrace”, he fumed.

“Why not leave it as it is? It’s an old, traditional flag. Why mess with it like the England football team have?

“Just leave it alone. It’s like there’s shame of our own flag now. That’s what it is.

“They’re just trying to eradicate it, aren’t they?”

Another angry Briton said the new flag design does not represent the country and the original flag should be ‘left as it is’.

“For me personally, I don’t like it”, he said.

“Team GB should be about the Union Jack and Great Britain, to me, that’s not.”

Another bemoaned the ‘torturing’ of the original flag, arguing that it should ‘never’ be tampered with.

One Hull resident however argued that the new design is more ‘exciting’ than the original flag, which he brands ‘boring’.

“I like the GB one”, he said.

“It’s more colourful, a bit more updated and a bit more exciting than our plain, boring flag.”

Asked by Anna Riley about suggestions the flag has been ‘butchered’ with the new design, he asserted that he “definitely disagrees”.

The British Olympic Association vowed to stick with tradition and not alter the classic red, white and blue Union flag on its 2024 Olympic kit after ‘Union Jack’ merchandise in different colour shades sparked furore.

Designers have introduced options with squiggles and dots across colours incorporating shades of pink and purple in a shift from traditional colour that are often associated with the British Olympic team.

It follows a row sparked by England’s new football kit that includes a ‘playful update’ to St George’s Cross.
