Taylor Swift recently reacquired his music catalog after it was sold to Shamrock Capital in 2020

Travis Kelce has publicly celebrated girlfriend Taylor Swift's recent acquisition of her master recordings, marking his first public comment on the historic deal.

In a preview for Wednesday's episode of his New Heights podcast, the Kansas City Chiefs star was seen dancing enthusiastically to Swift's 2012 hit "I Knew You Were Trouble" alongside guest Shaquille O'Neal.

The NBA legend played the track from his phone during the recording, prompting both Kelce brothers to join in with the impromptu celebration.

O'Neal lip-synced to the lyrics whilst Travis and his brother Jason bobbed their heads and smiled broadly, with Travis raising his hands dramatically during the performance.

"That's my favorite song in the world, brother," O'Neal declared, drawing applause from the Kelce siblings.

Travis then offered his support for Swift's achievement: "Shout out to Tay Tay. Just got that song back, too. Just bought all her music back so it's finally hers, man, I appreciate that, dog."

The American football player's comments acknowledged the significance of Swift regaining control of her catalogue after years of dispute.

His brother Jason responded with enthusiasm, fist-pumping and shouting "Hell yeah!" as Travis discussed the purchase.

This marked Travis's first public statement about Swift's acquisition since the news broke last week.

Swift announced on 30 May that she had successfully purchased the master recordings of her first six albums from Shamrock Capital, the private equity firm that had acquired them from Scooter Braun's Ithaca Holdings in late 2020.

Sources told Billboard the deal was worth approximately $360 million (£290 million).

The acquisition gives Swift control over her albums Taylor Swift, Fearless, Speak Now, Red, 1989 and Reputation.

In a handwritten letter posted to her website, Swift expressed her joy at the purchase: "I almost stopped thinking it could ever happen, after 20 years of having the carrot dangled and then yanked away. But that's all in the past now."

She revealed she had been "bursting into tears of joy at random intervals" since learning the deal had been finalised.

The announcement sparked immediate reaction from fans, with Spotify reporting that streams of Swift's original albums more than doubled on the day of her announcement.

Billboard data showed US activity around Swift's entire catalogue jumped to averaging nearly 35,000 consumption units daily, representing a 72.3% increase from the previous 12-day average of 20,000 units.
