The Duke of Sussex attended Eton from 1998 to 2003

Prince Harry has released a statement denying a claim that he reached out to his former school in a bid to secure Prince Archie a place at Eton.

The Duke of Sussex stated that he has no plans for his son to attend the prestigious school in the UK.

A spokesperson for the royal said: “Prince Harry has not put his son’s name down for Eton, nor does he have any plans to do so.”

It comes as Prince Harry appeared to have let slip his plan to have Archie and Lilibet schooled in the UK during a recent chat with singer Joss Stone.

The Duke of Sussex and Ms Stone discussed their children during a catch-up at the WellChild Awards in London.

Prince Harry also quizzed the singer on her recent move from the US to the UK amid speculation the royal is considering returning to the country of his birth.

Ms Stone told People: "He also asked about how we were settling back in and was genuinely interested in our move home.

“He’s just very warm and down to earth, as always. Maybe Harry will move back too. That would be nice.”

She continued: "He was saying how wonderful the schools are here and how important community is for children.

"It was nice to share that with him because it’s exactly why we felt drawn to come back – for the kids to grow up surrounded by family, friends and a strong sense of belonging and most importantly in a safe environment."

Earlier this month, a source claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are in negotiations over Archie and Lilibet’s schooling.

One insider claimed that the Duchess of Sussex feels sending their children to boarding schools would be “barbaric”.

King Charles is said to support the idea of Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet being educated in the UK.

A source told the Mail: “There is still some negotiation for Harry to have with Meghan. The King, however, is delighted.”
