The 37-year-old was released on parole back in January

Oscar Pistorius has been ostracised by former friends since being released from prison back in January, reports say.

And the 37-year-old is also struggling to get a job while he remains holed up at his uncle's mansion in South Africa.

Pistorius tragically shot and killed girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp back in February 2013, with the model just 29 at the time of her death.

The Blade Runner star was later convicted of murder but is now free on parole after being released from the Atteridgeville Correctional Centre in Pretoria in the New Year.

Pistorius has, in the time since, kept a low profile.

He is believed to attend church but spends most of his time based at his uncle's mansion in Waterkloof.

The property in question has armed guards, electronic defences and several 'attack dogs' to ensure his safety.

But Pistorius, according to the New York Post, has been 'ostracised' by former friends since his release.

It's also claimed he has struggled to get a job as he continues to adjust to his new life outside of prison.

Pistorius reportedly reached out to at least two members of the International Paralympic Committee after his release asking if they could 'work together in any capacity'.

However, he was then 'quickly rebuffed'.

An insider is quoted as saying: "He's too toxic to work with now.

"There's nothing for him here."

Pistorius was operating at the peak of his athletic powers when he shot Steenkamp on Valentine's Day 11 years ago.

He remains the only double-amputee Olympian in history and was seen as a trailblazer at the time of the tragic incident.

Pistorius always denied that he meant to kill Reeva in cold blood, insisting he mistook her for a burglar in the middle of the night.

However, he was later convicted following a trial back in September 2014 and initially sentenced to five years behind bars for culpable homicide.

After prosecutors appealed, his sentence was then extended to 13 years and five months.

As part of his parole conditions, Pistorius is unable to contact Reeva's family.

Pistorius is subject to alcohol and drug testing, while he's also unable to post on social media, give interviews or write a memoir.

He has been doing work for his local church and is said to have a long beard, while also being out of shape.

Reeva's father, Barry Steenkamp, died in September.

Reeva's mother, June, reacted to his release in January by saying: "He had to come out, it’s inevitable.
