A 20-year-old British backpacker from Birmingham is currently on life support in Thailand after a devastating accident in the coastal resort city of Pattaya.
Ethan Lacey, who works at a factory, had taken a two-month break to explore Thailand alongside his cousin before travelling solo to Pattaya for several days.
The young traveller suffered severe head injuries after falling from a pick-up truck, which then struck him as he lay on the ground.
His father Kevin told The Sun: "It doesn't seem like he's going to make it."
Medical staff have given the 20-year-old only a 30 per cent chance of pulling through.
According to witnesses, the incident occurred on Saturday as Ethan was travelling on the rear of a pick-up truck through a busy Pattaya junction.
Local police believe the vehicle was a black Toyota Hilux Revo.
Onlookers reported that his head struck the road surface after he fell from the moving vehicle, and he may have been hit again by the truck.

Kevin said a witness claimed his son was thrown from the vehicle during an altercation before ending up beneath the rear wheels.
The driver reportedly did not stop and abandoned the scene, with local residents rushing to help the injured Briton at the junction.
The accident left Ethan with three separate brain bleeds.
His parents Kevin and Kerry immediately flew from Birmingham to be at their son's bedside in Thailand.

His travel insurance ran out days before the accident

However, hospital regulations restrict the family to just three hours of visiting time each day with Ethan.
Kevin said: "We haven't even booked return tickets yet."
The family had grown concerned when Ethan failed to respond to messages for three days, which was unusual given they had been in contact "pretty much every other day" throughout his travels.
One of the final messages he sent home simply read: "I love you."
Ethan's travel insurance had expired shortly before the accident occurred, leaving the family facing enormous medical bills.
His grandmother has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the costs, which amount to approximately £1,000 daily to keep his life support systems running.
The fundraiser has so far collected £3,468, but the family requires ongoing support to maintain his care.
Despite the devastating circumstances, Kevin spoke warmly of his son's character.
Kevin added: "He lights the room up. He's full of life and always having banter with people."
