Ever since Oscar Pistorius' release from prison on parole in January 2024, updates on the 38-year-old have been scarce.
Over the weekend, however, it emerged that the man who was once admired by millions around the world was 'besotted' with new girlfriend Rita Greyling. In fact, the ex-athlete is so in love that he's confided in friends that he wants to become a father and start a family with his new beau.
Last Valentine's Day, back in February, marked 12 years since Pistorius tragically shot and killed model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in a tragedy that rocked the world.
He was at the peak of his powers at the time, having taken part at the London Olympics - becoming the 10th athlete in history to compete in both the Paralympic and Olympic Games in the process.

Pistorius insisted it was a tragic accident. Under oath, in court, he claimed he had mistaken Reeva for an intruder in the middle of the night. He fired four times, with three of them striking his girlfriend and ending her life.
"I was simply trying to protect Reeva," Pistorius told the Pretoria High Court at the start of his testimony.
"I'm scared to sleep. I have terrible nightmares about things that happened that night.
"I can smell blood. I wake up to being terrified. I wake up in a complete state of terror to the point that I would rather not sleep.

"When we were growing up, we were exposed to crime - house break-ins, family members being assaulted and hijacked.
"Many members of my family have been victims of house break-ins and violent crime."
Pistorius was, however, initially found guilty of manslaughter despite his comments. In 2015, that charge was upgraded to murder, much to the relief of Reeva's devastated parents June and Barry.
But now, 12 years on, he is a free man. Of sorts.

His parole conditions limit him in what he does. Pistorius isn't allowed to give interviews to the media and he's regularly tested for alcohol and drugs. Visits to local nightclubs are off the table, too.
Yet one thing that isn't is starting a family. Pistorius, according to the Daily Mail, is 'besotted' with Rita - who looks eerily similar to Reeva, something that hasn't gone unnoticed.
While in prison, he suffered financially. At the time of his stint behind bars, he had a net worth of around £3.8million - having secured lucrative sponsorships with the likes of Nike, BT, Oakley and Ossur and Thierry Mugler.
Fast-forward to now, however, and that figure has dropped to £114,000.
Pistorius hasn't taken a job since his release. Instead, he spends some of his time volunteering at a local church.
There have, however, been rare sightings of the former athlete.
Earlier this year, Pistorius took part in a triathlon in Durban. He is attempting to rebuild physically, as well as mentally, having gained weight and taken up smoking while in prison.
That came after he was snapped out and about last year, looking greyer and substantially different than before.

Reeva's father, Barry, died two years ago. Those close to the family have suggested he passed away due to a broken heart, having never got closure.
Barry met Pistorious while he was incarcerated. He asked the 'blade runner' to swear on the bible that he didn't kill Reeva intentionally.
Pistorius, sitting opposite him, refused.
Reeva's mother June is now recovering from a life-changing stroke. There are fears she might not be able to remember Reeva and it's also been revealed that she is struggling to speak.
All these years on, the profound impact of Pistorius' actions continue to be felt. While he can move on, however, Reeva has no such luxury.
