The defending US Open champion expressed optimism about reaching a new agreement during his pre-tournament press conference at Oakmont Country Club.

DeChambeau also voiced strong support for team golf formats during the press conference.
He described the team aspect as "a viable commercial option" that's "starting to grow and move in the right direction."

"TGL has done a great job," DeChambeau said. "They've got some teams that are making some money, and I believe there is a sustainable model out there."
He acknowledged uncertainty about how team formats fit into golf's broader landscape but remained confident.
"How it all works with the game of golf, who knows, but I know my worth. I know what LIV brings to the table. And I'm excited for the future of what golf is going to be," he said.
DeChambeau addressed his sponsorship situation since joining LIV, rejecting suggestions the move had hurt his commercial appeal.

"It kind of was a reset to see who wanted to be around and who wanted to continue to support and who I wanted to support, as well."
DeChambeau revealed he arrived at Oakmont with new irons after experiencing hooking issues at the PGA Championship: "I've optimised it a little bit more, so hopefully that helps with those overdraws in my irons."
The equipment tinkerer indicated his golf ball research remains ongoing.
"That's going to be a bit of time. I'm still working on it. We think later this year I'll have a golf ball that will be very interesting to test," he added.
"I'm excited to keep researching and trying and experimenting and optimising. My goal right now is just to optimise myself to another level."
