Meghan Markle was captured by photographers whilst browsing a toy shop in Montecito, California, on Tuesday.

The Duchess of Sussex, 44, picked up Magic Rabbit playing cards and Magic Castle Sea Monkeys during the understated excursion in the Santa Barbara neighbourhood.

She moved to Montecito with Prince Harry and their children in 2020, just months after stepping down as senior working royals.

Meghan opted for relaxed attire, sporting a white baseball cap paired with a matching scarf, a trench coat, jeans and flat shoes.

She departed the store carrying two sizeable paper bags filled with her purchases, suggesting a productive shopping trip just days before the Easter holiday.

The nostalgic purchases appear destined for the Easter baskets of Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four, with the holiday falling on Sunday, April 5.

Sea Monkeys enjoyed particular popularity among youngsters from the 1960s through to the 1990s, making the selection a charming retro choice for the young royals.

Last year, she shared a video on Instagram showing her animated reaction to a mother duck and her ducklings crossing the driveway of the family home.

The mother-of-two wished followers a holiday "full of love and surprises!"

Meghan is highly likely to issue an Easter message to her followers again this year.

This contrasts with King Charles, who has not formally sent a message to mark the Christian holiday.

GB News understands Buckingham Palace does not plan on releasing a speech each year, unlike its annual Christmas message.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex departed from their senior royal positions in March 2020.

Harry and Meghan subsequently established their permanent residence in the duchess's native California.

Prince Harry, 41, and his wife have chosen to raise their two children away from public scrutiny in the exclusive Montecito community.
