A dramatic moment unfolded during Sunday's Formula 2 race in Monaco when a track worker narrowly avoided being struck by an oncoming car after running across the circuit.
The alarming incident occurred in the closing stages of the Feature Race and was caught live on television, leaving viewers stunned as the individual dashed across a section of the track with cars still circulating at speed.
As drivers approached the pit lane entry, a member of event personnel appeared to sprint across the circuit directly in front of approaching traffic.
American driver Colton Herta was the nearest car and came dangerously close to colliding with the individual.
Footage showed the worker making it safely to the other side just moments before Herta arrived at the same section of track.
Nicolas Varrone and Joshua Durksen were also immediately behind, further underlining how serious the situation could have become.
Fortunately, no contact was made and the individual escaped unharmed.
