Former Germany striker Frank Mill, a member of the nation’s 1990 World Cup-winning squad, has died at the age of 67.
Mill passed away in the early hours of Tuesday morning following complications from a heart attack he suffered in late May.
According to German outlet Bild, the cardiac arrest occurred shortly after Mill arrived at Milan Malpensa Airport, where he had travelled to take part in a documentary marking Germany’s historic World Cup triumph.
The incident reportedly happened moments after he entered a taxi.

He was resuscitated by medical staff after being clinically dead for several minutes and was immediately airlifted to hospital.
Mill was later placed in an artificial coma as doctors worked to stabilise his condition. Eventually, he was able to return to his hometown of Essen to continue recovering.
After spending nearly ten weeks fighting for his life, Mill is reported to have died at 2:30am on August 5.
Mill made 17 appearances for the West German national team and was part of the squad that took bronze at the 1988 Olympics, just two years before their World Cup success in Italy.
His professional career began with Rot-Weiss Essen, his local club, where he rose through the ranks after joining from Eintracht Essen at the age of 14.
In 1981, he moved to Borussia Mönchengladbach, where he spent five seasons and played more than 150 matches.
