Taiwo Ogunlabi, known as Ty, is known for being on AFTV

Taiwo Ogunlabi, widely recognised by football supporters as Ty from the YouTube channel AFTV, was involved in a heated confrontation with a steward following Arsenal’s 2-2 draw away at Sunderland on Saturday night.

The well known fan, known for his unwavering optimism regardless of his club's form, appeared visibly agitated as he became engaged in an argument with home supporters near the stadium concourse shortly after the final whistle.

Footage circulating on social media shows the confrontation escalating, with a steward seen holding Ty forcefully and appearing to grip him near the throat as he attempted to push him away from Sunderland fans.

The images prompted immediate reaction online, with many questioning the nature of the restraint used. Others debated the cause of the clash and whether Ty had initiated or responded to provocation from opposing supporters.

AFTV, launched in 2013 and originally operating under the name Arsenal Fan TV, has grown into a major online platform that captures supporter reaction after matches.

The channel is known for providing a platform to emotionally driven and forthright commentary during what has often been a turbulent era for the club.

Ty has become one of the most recognisable personalities associated with the channel due to his resolute defence of Arsenal and his tendency to focus on positives even after disappointing performances.

He attracted widespread attention several seasons ago when he attributed a defeat to Watford partly to heavy rain, a remark that became synonymous with his determined loyalty to the club.

The match itself had been a dramatic affair. Arsenal arrived in the north east on a run of 10 consecutive victories and boasting one of the most disciplined defences in the Premier League.

That confidence appeared shaken when Sunderland took the lead after 36 minutes through an emphatic strike from Dan Ballard, who finished expertly past David Raya.

Arsenal responded in the second half with the kind of possession and control that has become a hallmark of their approach under Mikel Arteta.

Bukayo Saka levelled the match after capitalising on a lapse in concentration from Enzo Le Fee in Sunderland’s defensive third, dispatching a firm strike past goalkeeper Robin Roefs.

Leandro Trossard then appeared to have sealed the result with a powerful effort into the top corner from distance, a strike that momentarily subdued the home crowd and had the visiting supporters in a state of ecstasy.

However, Sunderland produced one final surge deep into stoppage time.

Substitute Brian Brobbey manoeuvred past Gabriel to meet a flicked header from Ballard before squeezing an acrobatic finish beyond Raya in the Gunners goal.

The equaliser sparked jubilant celebrations and lifted Sunderland to third in the Premier League table at full time, though they later fell to fourth following Chelsea’s victory over Wolves.

It remains unclear what triggered the altercation involving Ty and whether the steward was working on behalf of Sunderland or part of the travelling stewards sometimes deployed for away supporters.

Video shows Ty being escorted out of the stadium precinct while raising his voice, before another individual intervened to help draw him away from the confrontation.

Meanwhile, Arsenal boss Arteta admitted he was frustrated that his side weren't able to close the game out.

“It’s not a nice feeling,” said the Spaniard.

“It’s disappointment and frustration, because we wanted the three points.

“We had to navigate through a tough game. We knew that. [They were] very disruptive. We had to deal with situations that were obviously difficult to deal with.”
