The 26-year-old is expected to join Real Madrid this summer

Trent Alexander-Arnold has been 'banned' from two major venues in Liverpool following his announcement to leave the club.

The 26-year-old defender will be ending his 20-year association with Liverpool FC when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Both Popworld Liverpool and Currys stores have humorously declared him unwelcome through social media posts.

The entertainment venue Popworld Liverpool was first to announce the ban, simply posting on social media: "Barred @TrentAA."

Not to be outdone, the official Currys account shared a video on X showing their response.

The clip featured a staff member approaching a store window where a poster of Alexander-Arnold was visible.

The poster prominently displayed the message: "Banned. Please do not enter."

Currys added the caption: "Banned from all Currys stores in Liverpool."

These tongue-in-cheek posts have quickly gained attention as local businesses react to the defender's impending departure.

Fans on social media have embraced the humorous bans with enthusiasm.

One supporter commented: "Companies of culture."

"I rate this," said another fan appreciating the lighthearted approach.

A third added: "Hahahaha! I'm here for the pettiness!"

"Love this," remarked another Liverpool supporter.

The lighthearted response comes after Alexander-Arnold made what he described as "easily the hardest decision of my life" to depart from the Reds.

The England international is expected to join Real Madrid on a free transfer, with a reunion with close friend Jude Bellingham on the cards.

Alexander-Arnold has been with Liverpool since joining the academy, helping the club win numerous major honours including two Premier League titles and the Champions League.

In his emotional statement, he said: "This club has been my whole life, my whole world - for 20 years."

He explained his departure was about "experiencing a new challenge, taking myself out of my comfort zone and pushing myself both professionally and personally."

LATEST SPORTS NEWS:

Reports suggest Alexander-Arnold informed the club and manager Arne Slot of his decision to leave in March.

Should Alexander-Arnold complete his expected transfer to Real Madrid, he would join an exclusive group of English players who have represented the Spanish giants.

He would become only the seventh Englishman to play for the Bernabeu outfit.

This select group includes two former Liverpool players - Steve McManaman and Michael Owen.

Like Alexander-Arnold, both McManaman and Owen also left Anfield to join Madrid.

In his farewell statement, Alexander-Arnold emphasised his enduring connection to Liverpool despite his departure.

"I've been blessed enough to live out my dreams here," he said.

"My love for this club will never die."
