Jude Bellingham and Jack Grealish both miss out of the squad yet again

Thomas Tuchel has named his latest England squad for the friendly against Wales and World Cup qualifier versus Latvia later this month.

Former Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah has replaced the injured Tino Livramento, while Bukayo Saka replaces Arsenal teammate Noni Madueke.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek also replaces Adam Wharton. The AC Milan midfielder was his replacement during the last squad after the Crystal Palace star withdrew due to injury.

Trent Alexander-Arnold, Cole Palmer, Levi Colwill, Jarrad Branthwaite, James Maddison and Dominic Solanke all also miss out on the squad due to longer-term injuries.

The major surprise from Tuchel's latest squad is the exclusion of Real Madrid superstar Jude Bellingham.

The midfielder has featured in Madrid's last four fixtures after recovering from shoulder surgery over the summer. The 22-year-old was awarded England's Player of the Year earlier this week.

Jack Grealish also misses out on the squad despite his stellar start to life in an Everton shirt.

The 30-year-old has already grabbed four assists on Merseyside, and also picked up the Premier League Player of the Month for August.

Phil Foden also misses out for the second consecutive national team squad.

The Manchester City star has enjoyed a resurgence this year, making seven appearances in all competitions for Pep Guardiola's side, scoring twice and providing a further two goals.

Fans took to social media to express their feelings on the squad, with one fan commenting: "I thought Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton deserved the call."

Another questioned: "No Foden and there’s [Jarrod] Bowen?"

A third added: "You have to wonder how someone whose job is to watch English footballers and pick the best ones can possibly not select Wharton and Grealish."

While a fourth said: "Loftus cheek over Wharton. The jokes keep writing themselves."

England hammered Serbia 5-0 in their most recent fixture

The England team come off the back of a successful recent international break in September. The Three Lions beat Andorra 2-0 at Villa Park, courtesy of an own goal and Declan Rice.

Following that, the squad travelled to Belgrade and hammered Serbia 5-0.

Tuchel saw five different goalscorers for his side that day: Harry Kane, Madueke, Ezri Konsa, Marcus Rashford and Marc Guehi.

This time, however, England face a Welsh side entering the fixture in somewhat encouraging form.

Craig Bellamy's side have beaten Kazakhstan and Liechtenstein in recent weeks. However, they also failed to win against North Macedonia, and suffered narrow defeats against Canada and Belgium.

Latvia, though, have not won a game since they beat Andorra 1-0 back in March, a run that stretches five games and includes them scoring just one goal.

Tuchel's side host Wales at Wembley on October 9 at 7:45pm.

They then travel to the Daugava National Stadium in Latvia, kicking off at 7:45pm on October 14.
