The England legend has provided his picks ahead of this weekend's action

England legend Terry Butcher is backing Newcastle to take a major step towards Champions League qualification this weekend.

The retired Three Lions ace thinks Eddie Howe and his men will win a crunch-clash at Brighton that would put them in a great position to finish in the top four.

Butcher, now among the UK’s leading mental health and wellbeing keynote speakers, thinks the Geordies will keep cool heads and triumph 2-0.

He’s also backing Manchester City to maintain their good run of form.

City made the FA Cup final last weekend with a win over Nottingham Forest.

And Butcher’s backing the Blues to follow that up with a 2-0 win over Wolves.

Elsewhere, Butcher is backing Arsenal, Brentford and Crystal Palace to win.

If the Eagles do beat Nottingham Forest it would put another major dent in their Champions League hopes.

They’ve already been badly wounded by the loss to Brentford. But Butcher is predicting more misery and a 2-0 win for the Eagles.

Liverpool, confirmed as Champions last week, will get a point at Chelsea, according to Butcher. He’s predicting a 1-1 draw.

Butcher also thinks Aston Villa vs Fulham and Everton vs Ipswich will finish all-square.

Finally, Butcher is backing Graham Potter to secure a much-needed win. His West Ham side are in a terrible run of form.

But he’s predicting better news this weekend and tipping them to beat Spurs 1-0.

Read on below for his predictions in full.
