Fans took to social media to express their views on Savage’s bizarre comments.

Football fans have ripped into Robbie Savage following his comments about Mason Mount on commentary last night.

Mount starred as Manchester United secured a 7-1 victory on aggregate to secure their place in the Europa League final.

It wasn’t plain sailing for the Red Devils as Athletic Bilbao threatened to upset the home supporters with a spectacular goal 31 minutes into the clash.

A triple substitution for United after the 60-minute mark saw Amad Diallo, Luke Shaw, and Mount all take to the pitch, with the trio making an immediate impact.

After some great footwork, Mount proceeded to score a great goal that saw United move to 4-1 on aggregate, before goals from Casemiro and Rasmus Hojlund secured the Old Trafford side a place in the Europa League final.

Mount wasn’t finished, though, as he added another goal to his tally in injury time to seal a great team performance.

Most of the post-match reaction focused on bizarre comments by commentator Savage, rather then Mount’s great performance.

He continued to say: "What a performance from Mason Mount! What a substitution. They were struggling there but Mount scored two world-class goals."

Despite his praise for the midfielder, fans on social media were quick to jump on his comments.

One wrote: "Is this Robbie Savage's first time watching Mason Mount, or? 'Best 30 mins of his career' is a shameless comment."
