Paris Saint-Germain seized an early advantage in their Club World Cup semi-final against Real Madrid at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, with Ruiz finding the net to make it 1-0 - minutes after the match was delayed.
The goal came after Ousmane Dembele was brought down by Thibaut Courtois whilst attempting to round the Belgian goalkeeper.
Ruiz was perfectly positioned to convert the rebound, giving the French champions the lead in this high-stakes encounter.
An error from Rudiger saw Dembele steal the ball off the German, with the defender missing his pass.

The match's scheduled 3pm local time kick-off was pushed back by ten minutes after both teams encountered significant traffic delays en route to the stadium.
The teams' buses arrived at the 82,000-capacity venue twenty minutes behind schedule due to heavy congestion in the tunnels connecting Manhattan to New Jersey.
The journey, which typically takes up to two hours and twenty minutes under optimal conditions, was severely hampered by what was described as a traffic accident on the route to MetLife Stadium.
The winner of this semi-final will face Chelsea in Sunday's final after the Blues secured their place with a 2-0 victory over Fluminense.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca expressed no preference regarding their final opponent, stating: "Both teams are outstanding.
"One claimed the Champions League this season and the other the previous season."
