Arsenal's narrow 1-0 triumph at Brighton earlier in the evening meant City's failure to secure maximum points proved particularly costly, with Guardiola's men having played one fewer match than their rivals.

Guardiola praised his players' commitment despite the disappointing outcome, highlighting their work rate throughout the contest.

"[The players] tried to do their best, when you see how they run but of course, in a game at home and at this stage of the season it's important, but keep going," he said.

The City manager was adamant that dwelling on setbacks would serve no purpose as the campaign enters its crucial phase.

"We don't have time to look back, so look forward," Guardiola added.

With the title race potentially slipping away, the Spaniard acknowledged the significance of home fixtures during this period whilst maintaining his characteristic determination to continue competing.

Guardiola quickly turned his attention to the challenges ahead, with a demanding schedule awaiting his squad in the coming days.

"Now it's on to Newcastle in the FA Cup, then Real Madrid in the Champions League. Game by game," he stated.

The City boss emphasised that his team are well accustomed to juggling multiple competitions simultaneously and must maintain their focus across all fronts.

"We are used to playing in a lot of competitions and we will go for that game, there are a lot of game to play so we have to continue," Guardiola explained.

With domestic and European silverware still within reach, City will hope to bounce back swiftly from this latest league disappointment.
