The Eagles' form has plummeted in recent weeks

Crystal Palace are weighing up whether to dismiss manager Oliver Glasner following his extraordinary public attack on the club's hierarchy.

Sky Sports News say that chairman Steve Parish was left both bewildered and furious by the Austrian's remarks after Saturday's 2-1 loss at Sunderland.

Glasner launched a scathing critique of the board, declaring: "We feel like we're being abandoned completely."

The 50-year-old had already announced on Friday that he would depart Selhurst Park when his contract concludes this summer.

Parish now faces a decision on whether to allow Glasner to complete the remaining four months of his tenure or terminate his employment immediately.

The imminent transfer of captain Marc Guehi to Manchester City appears to represent the breaking point in an increasingly fractured relationship between manager and chairman.

"Selling our captain one day before a game - there is no understanding for this," Glasner stated on Saturday.

However, the club maintain they were compelled to proceed with the sale rather than risk forfeiting £20m should the defender have departed as a free agent at season's end.

Palace insist they honoured Glasner's preferences during the previous transfer window by withdrawing from a deadline day deal that would have sent Guehi to Liverpool.

From Parish's standpoint, every decision he makes reflects what he considers best for the club's long-term stability and future.

Glasner opted against making any substitutions during the defeat, explaining that only youngsters were available on the bench.

"The players gave everything they could. We made no substitutions - look at the bench, there are just kids there," he said.

The result extended Palace's winless streak to ten matches across all competitions.

Glasner highlighted the strain on his depleted squad, noting they have been operating with merely 12 or 13 players for weeks, with some individuals having already played 35 games this season.

"For 50 or 60 minutes, we played well here and for 15 or 20 minutes, we were under pressure and conceded the goal," he explained.

Glasner insisted he felt compelled to voice his concerns publicly rather than keeping them behind closed doors, framing his outburst as an attempt to protect his squad.

"It's maybe the last try that things get done that have to get done. Not for Oliver Glasner, it's for Crystal Palace," he said.

The manager pointed to the departure of the club's four best players since his arrival - Michael Olise, Eberechi Eze, Joachim Andersen and now Guehi.

"Oliver Glasner won't get the bill, Crystal Palace will get it. If you're fine with it, continue," he warned.

When questioned about completing the season, Glasner remained defiant: "I will never step back because these players deserve Oliver Glasner as their manager and leader."
