Morecambe FC have confirmed they have a deal in place for a takeover that would “secure the future of the club” after weeks of chaos and financial crisis.
Sports investment firm Panjab Warriors have agreed a deal with The Shrimp’s current owners, Bond Group Investments Ltd.
The two parties had previously come to an agreement over a deal in June, which had been approved by the EFL, but following the club’s relegation from League Two and the hectic summer that ensued, the club were suspended from the National League.

Players were even forced to leave the training pitches as the club no longer had insurance to cover for them if they were to be injured.
Five-time world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, who resides in Morecambe, had been questioned on buying his local team given the 36-year-old’s enormous wealth.
The Gypsy King sponsored the club during the 2022/23 season, but any possibility of him taking over his local club was shut down, with The Telegraph reporting he had “no interest” in purchasing the club where he had lived for more than a decade.
Despite this, Panjab Warriors seem to have struck a deal with the current owners to save the historic club, and reinstate them into the National League.
When the takeover will be finalised is unknown, however at the very least this is some positive news for a community that has been bereft of for far too long.
