The 28-year-old excluded the Red Devils in a thank you message

Marcus Rashford appeared to take a swipe at Manchester United following his inclusion in the England squad.

The forward posted on Instagram after being announced in the Three Lions 26-man setup, saying: "Special thanks to Unai (Emery), Hansi (Flick), Thomas (Tuchel), Aston Villa, Barcelona & England for believing in me when things got tough."

Rashford concluded the message with a red heart, notably excluding United from his message.

The 28-year-old is pursuing a permanent deal at Barcelona, who are strapped for cash and trying to lower his price.

United are insisting that the £26million agreed in the initial loan-to-buy deal is paid.

Rashford recorded 14 goals and 14 assists across all competitions this season, impressing German coach Flick.

The Englishman still have a couple of years left on his five-year deal, which earns him £325,000 a week.

He has spent half of his new contract on loan, first at Emery's Aston Villa before heading overseas to Spain.

The deadline for Barcelona to make Rashford's loan deal permanent is June 15.

The 28-year-old's message came just after Tuchel announced the 26-man squad.

England kick off their tournament against Croatia on June 17, then face Ghana six days later and Panama on June 27.

The goalkeeping options are: Jordan Pickford (Everton), Dean Henderson (Crystal Palace) and James Trafford (Manchester City).

Tuchel's side will play two games against New Zealand and Costa Rica in preparation for football's biggest tournament.

All of the Three Lions group stage games will be played in the US, which is hosting alongside Canada and Mexico.

The Football Association must submit the 26-man squad to Fifa by May 31, but can make changes to outfield players for medical reasons up until 24 hours before the Group L opener against Croatia.

Only goalkeepers can be altered after this point.
