The Croatia international will depart the LaLiga giants after the Club World Cup

Luka Modric has reached an agreement to join AC Milan following the conclusion of the Club World Cup in July, according to reports.

The 39-year-old Croatian midfielder will depart Real Madrid after the revamped tournament in the United States.


Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Modric has agreed terms with the Italian club upon the expiry of his Real Madrid contract.

The veteran playmaker will feature for Los Blancos in the Club World Cup under new manager Xabi Alonso, his former team-mate.

Real Madrid begin their campaign against Al-Hilal in Miami on June 18 with the tournament final scheduled for July 13.

The midfielder has opted not to complete his medical examination or finalise the transfer officially until after his Real Madrid commitments conclude.

According to Romano, Modric is determined to maintain full focus on his current club until his departure.

The Croatian international will participate in Real Madrid's Club World Cup fixtures against Pachuca and RB Salzburg following their opening match.

Despite receiving lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia and Major League Soccer, Modric has chosen to remain in European football.

The decision reflects the player's ambition to represent Croatia at the 2026 World Cup, when he will be 40 years old.

Modric's illustrious career at Real Madrid spans 591 appearances since his 2012 transfer from Tottenham Hotspur.

The dynamic midfielder has secured six Champions League titles and claimed the prestigious Ballon d'Or in 2018.

Despite his veteran status, the Croatian remained integral to Real Madrid's plans this season, featuring in 57 matches across all competitions.
