The team announced a new partnership with Adidas on Friday

Liverpool have unveiled the shirt numbers for their summer transfer window arrivals, with German international Florian Wirtz securing the prestigious No 7 jersey.

The club's record acquisition will follow in the footsteps of Anfield legends including Kevin Keegan, Sir Kenny Dalglish and Luis Suarez.

The Merseyside club delayed revealing the permanent squad numbers throughout pre-season, with new arrivals sporting provisional digits during friendly matches.

Friday's announcement was strategically timed to coincide with the debut of Liverpool's partnership with Adidas.

Wirtz's selection of the No 7 shirt, left vacant by Luis Diaz's recent departure to Bayern Munich, marks a significant moment. The midfielder had previously donned No 10 at Bayer Leverkusen.

Hugo Ekitike has been allocated the No 22 shirt, having worn 11 at Eintracht Frankfurt last campaign. The French striker's previous number remains with Mohamed Salah, though Ekitike did sport 22 during his time at Stade Reims.

Left-back Milos Kerkez has made an unconventional choice by selecting No 6, a jersey that remained unoccupied following Thiago's exit last year. His Bournemouth No 3 belongs to Wataru Endo.

Jeremie Frimpong retains his Bayer Leverkusen No 30, despite speculation linking him with 66, previously worn by Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Dutch defender represents Liverpool's fourth major acquisition this summer.

Goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili inherits No25, famously worn by Pepe Reina during his eight-year spell. Fellow keepers Freddie Woodman and Armin Pesci have received 28 and 41 respectively.

Academy products have secured prominent squad numbers ahead of the new campaign. Conor Bradley has progressed from 84 to claim the No 12 shirt, signalling his enhanced status within the first-team setup.

The Northern Ireland international's promotion reflects his expected involvement alongside Frimpong in competing for the right-back position. His jersey choice mirrors the number Alexander-Arnold selected at Real Madrid.

Teenage midfielder Trey Nyoni has also received recognition for his impressive pre-season performances. The youngster has upgraded from 98 to 42, indicating Liverpool's faith in his development.

The squad number confirmations arrive as Liverpool launches their new kit partnership with Adidas, replacing their previous arrangement with Nike. Supporters can purchase the new jerseys featuring their favourite players' numbers from today, Friday August 1.
