Daniel Farke revealed he had raised an issue with the match officials

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke has hit out at what he described as a Manchester City player faking an injury to enable an extra team talk during Saturday's dramatic 3-2 defeat at the Etihad Stadium.

The German tactician expressed his frustration following Phil Foden's stoppage-time winner that denied Leeds a remarkable point after they had battled back from two goals down.

Speaking after the match, Farke acknowledged the tactic fell within current regulations whilst making his displeasure evident.

He said: "Everyone knows why he went down. It's within the rules and it's smart."

The Leeds boss added: "If I like it in the sense of fair play. I keep it to myself. Leave it to the authorities to find a solution."

Farke revealed he had raised the matter with match officials: "I asked the fourth official. He said our hands are tied.

"My recommendation was if this happens, do me a favour and give one for the away team.

"I don't criticise my colleague, Pep. It was the player."

The visitors' resurgence began with substitute Dominic Calvert-Lewin's half-time introduction, which proved transformative.

The striker capitalised on Matheus Nunes's defensive error to reduce the deficit, before earning a penalty after being brought down by Josko Gvardiol.

Lukas Nmecha's initial spot-kick was saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma, but the midfielder converted the rebound to complete an unlikely comeback.

The equaliser arrived after Leeds had appeared destined for defeat following Manchester City's commanding first-half display.

The turnaround placed the struggling Yorkshire side within touching distance of securing a vital three points against one of the Premier League's elite teams.

Manchester City had dominated the opening period, requiring merely 59 seconds for Foden to open the scoring.

The England international converted Nunes' cross with a controlled volley that struck the crossbar before crossing the line.

Gvardiol extended the advantage from close range following a corner, with Leeds' protests about interference dismissed after VAR review.

Despite the dramatic comeback, Foden delivered the decisive blow during 10 minutes of added time.

His low effort nestled in the bottom corner, securing three points for City and leaving Farke's side empty-handed despite their spirited recovery.
