The injury has been lingering for years

Jude Bellingham faces months on the sidelines as he is set to undergo shoulder surgery following the Club World Cup.

The Real Madrid star, who lost the LaLiga title to Barcelona this season, will play for his team in the Club World Cup, which runs from June 14 to July 13.

Whilst he is expected to play in the Club World Cup, he will be playing with an injury he sustained in 2023 after dislocating his shoulder.

The 21-year-old refused surgery and has played through the injury for the past two seasons.

But according to The Athletic, Madrid plans for Bellingham to undergo surgery after the Club World Cup.

The surgery could rule him out for up to 12 weeks post-surgery, meaning the midfielder would miss the start of the new LaLiga season.

This season has not been as stellar, though; he has only managed 14 goals in 51 games, while Madrid conceded the title and were knocked out of Europe in the quarter-finals by Arsenal.

Barcelona also won the Copa del Rey with a dramatic 3-2 win over Madrid, a game in which Bellingham got himself sent off.
