Manchester United are weighing up a huge offer from Saudi Arabia for Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has been given a 72-hour deadline to decide on a staggering £100 million offer from Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal.

The Portuguese midfielder must respond to the formal offer by next week, with the Saudi giants keen to finalise the deal ahead of next month's Club World Cup.

Al-Hilal are prepared to pay United around £100m for their talisman and have offered Fernandes a lucrative package worth approximately £65m per season.

The Saudi outfit will present Fernandes with a formal and final offer in the coming days, giving him just 72 hours to respond.

According to the Daily Mail, Al-Hilal are "increasingly hopeful" that the 30-year-old can be persuaded to leave Old Trafford.

If Fernandes accepts the terms, he would earn around £700,000 per week on a three-year contract. Should the deadline pass without a response, Al-Hilal are prepared to move on to other targets.

Manchester United's financial situation has become increasingly dire following their 1-0 defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League final.

The loss has cost the club an estimated £100 million by missing out on Champions League qualification.

Without European football next season, United are in urgent need of funds for the summer transfer window.

Manager Ruben Amorim had hoped to bring in several players to implement his system, but the club now faces limited options.

Reports suggest United are willing to listen to offers for every player, including their captain.

Following the Europa League final defeat, Fernandes addressed speculation about his future at Old Trafford.

"I've always said I will be here until the club says to me that it's time to go," he stated. "I'm eager to do more, to be able to bring the club to great days."

The midfielder added: "If the club thinks it's time to part ways because they want to do some cash in or whatever, it's what it is, and football sometimes is like this."

Despite United's disappointing season, Fernandes has been a standout performer, contributing 19 goals and 19 assists in all competitions. He recently won both the club's Player of the Season and Players' Player of the Season awards.

Amorim has made it clear he wants to retain his captain's services.

"He is a leader, the captain. It is natural that people want Bruno, but we want to keep him. He is one of the top players of the world," the United manager said earlier this month.
