The former Spice Girl opened up on her estranged son for the first time since his explosive statement

Victoria Beckham has addressed questions about her eldest son Brooklyn for the first time since their public falling out, though she notably avoided using his name in her response.

Speaking today, the 51-year-old fashion designer issued a brief response about parenting.

"I think that we've always - we love our children so much. We've always tried to be the best parents that we can be," she stated.

Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, she continued: "And you know, we've been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we've ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children."

The former Spice Girl then drew a firm line under the topic, adding: "And you know, that's all I really want to say about it."

Victoria's comments come months after Brooklyn released a lengthy statement on Instagram in January, declaring he had no wish to repair relations with his family.

The 27-year-old accused his parents of repeatedly going to the press and claimed they had attempted to "bribe" him into selling the commercial rights to his own name.

He also alleged David and Victoria had worked "endlessly" to damage his marriage to Nicola Peltz Beckham.

Among the most striking claims, Brooklyn accused his mother of "hijacking" his first dance with Nicola at their 2022 wedding, writing: "I've never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life."

In his statement, he declared: "I do not want to reconcile with my family. I'm not being controlled, I'm standing up for myself for the first time in my life."

Despite the rift, both David and Victoria appeared to reach out to their son when he turned 27 in March, with each posting nostalgic photographs on Instagram.

The 50-year-old former footballer shared two images, including a holiday snap showing the couple holding baby Brooklyn in a swimming pool.

Victoria posted the same poolside picture, captioning it: "Happy 27th birthday Brooklyn. I love you so much."

In her Wall Street Journal interview, Victoria also reflected on raising her other children – Cruz, Romeo and Harper – as they grow older.

"Being a parent of young adult children and adult children, gosh, I mean, it's very different from having little children," she said. "I think that we're trying to do the best we can."

Victoria insisted the negative publicity surrounding her family has not harmed her fashion empire.

"I think that ultimately people are buying my product because the product is really good," she told the publication. "I don't think they're buying my eyeliner just because it's me."

When asked whether she felt guilty about exposing her family to public scrutiny, she responded: "I wouldn't say it comes with guilt, I'd say that there was a lot of adjusting from my mum and dad, when all of a sudden there were paparazzi outside their house.

"We've really taken our families on this ride with us."

Shortly after Brooklyn's January statement, David spoke at the World Economic Forum in Davos about his children and social media.

"They make mistakes, but children are allowed to make mistakes," he said. "That is how they learn."
