EXCLUSIVE: The striker has produced the goods in Germany but could finish the season without a trophy

Harry Kane's decision to leave Tottenham has been defended by Arsenal icon Ray Parlour, despite his spell at Bayern Munich failing to work out so far.

The England international has been outstanding in front of goal this term, netting 37 goals and clocking up 10 assists across all competitions from just 35 matches.

Bayern, however, haven't operated at their usual level.

The reigning German champions lost 2-0 to Borussia Dortmund on Sunday, with Kane struggling as goals from Karim Adeyemi and Julian Ryerson consigned them to defeat.

After the game, manager Thomas Tuchel conceded the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen - who sit 13 points clear at the summit, having won 23 of their 27 games so far.

Kane has been mocked online, with the 30-year-old yet to win any silverware in his career.

But Parlour, speaking exclusively to GB News via NetBet Sports Betting, has defended Kane and insisted he will 'never give up' in his hunt for a trophy.

"No I don’t think so," he said when asked if the England skipper would be regretting his move to Bayern.

"He wasn’t going to leave for another English club, so Bayern was a good option.

"He continues to break records with his goal scoring, but other parts of the team haven’t been as good as previous years.

"You can’t have regrets and Kane will never give up in his search for trophies."

Tuchel will be leaving Bayern at the end of the season.

The German only arrived as Julian Nagelsmann's successor last year, having been sacked by Chelsea in September 2022.

But Tuchel has struggled to get the best from his Bayern players this season, much to the dismay of the club's ownership.

There has been talk of a potential return to England amid his imminent departure from Bavaria.

Manchester United could turn to Tuchel if they sack Erik ten Hag, particularly after their poor 1-1 draw against Brentford on Saturday.

West Ham have been linked amid calls for David Moyes to lose his job, while Newcastle have also been put forward as potential suitors.

And Parlour thinks Tuchel won't be short on offers once he walks out of the Allianz Arena for the last time.

"He may feel he has unfinished business in England and with his record at Chelsea, I am sure owners will look at Tuchel," he continued.

"Or, he may feel Germany is suited to his style and look to go to another Bundesliga Team.

"He has won the Champions League, so you will always be hopeful of securing a top job if you have won that competition."

Meanwhile, Tuchel threw in the towel after Bayern lost to Dortmund and congratulated Leverkusen on their imminent title triumph.

"Congratulations to Leverkusen," he said.

"After the game today there's nothing left to say."

Bayern board member Max Eberl added: “There was too little energy, too little will – everything you want to see was too little for us today.

"We know that the boys have the quality, but they have to show that on the pitch.

"Against Dortmund we need to play a special game, and we didn't put that on display. We played a modest game today.

"Our gap to the top of the table is much bigger than to those behind us. We have to do our job and win our games.

"We should represent Bayern Munich in the way the club deserves to be represented."
