Salford City fans have become the latest to turn on Gary Neville, after he released a controversial video on LinkedIn blaming “middle-aged white men” for division within the country.
The video followed just days after a deadly synagogue attack in Manchester where two Jewish worshippers were killed.
However, his message quickly shifted to criticising the display of national flags across the city.
The former Manchester United player lamented what he described as the “division” in British society and suggested that the flag had been weaponised in recent years.
He then claimed in the video that he had demanded a Union Jack flag be "instantly" taken down at one of his property developments in Manchester, questioning why anyone would need to display the flag now when they hadn't in the previous 15 to 20 years.
"We're all being turned on each other and the division that's being created is absolutely disgusting," Neville said in the video. "Mainly created by angry middle-aged white men who know exactly what they're doing."

The latest group to turn on the former defender are Salford City fans. Neville has been a member of the ownership group at The Ammies since 2014, along with former Manchester United team-mates Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Phil Neville.

Earlier this year, a consortium led by Neville and David Beckham took full control of the club.
But fans have been left unimpressed by his recent comments online, which has led to banners being upheld around the Peninsula Stadium.
One flag, that could be seen online, read: “Gary Neville. Traitor. Scum. Own goal Nev.”

The protests could be seen during Salford’s 3-1 victory against Stockport in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday evening.
Fans also took to social media to voice their frustrations, with one fan writing: “@GNev2 Salford fans. Your bread and butter. Even they are disgusted. I am as a Man Utd fan. A legend and a wonderful captain BUT f*** me …. Not your finest moment!”
“He’s really monumentally messed up with this one,” another added.

"Gary Neville played for England, but he won't let us put a flag up to celebrate the country where we live.
“Afterwards, we had to do ‘toolbox chats’ for everyone about political messages on the building site. Basically, we had to explain why we can't have flags, and we can't express our political views because Gary Neville says we can’t.
“Everyone else can put their flags up, so why can't we?”
Critics have slammed Neville’s apparent hypocrisy and disrespect towards a nation he “loves”, according to his video.
The 40-year-old earned 85 England caps and even captained his national team on occasion during his football career.
