The President was joined by two surprise guests at the Egypt peace summit

Fifa president Gianni Infantino made a surprise appearance with US President Donald Trump in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, on Monday afternoon ahead of the historic Israel-Gaza peace deal.

Infantino was joined by the owner of a major Premier League club, who also attended the event representing the delegation of the United Arab Emirates.

Mr Trump addressed the room of world leaders on Monday ahead of signing the historic peace deal.

Along with Trump, both Sir Tony Blair, who has been tipped for a major role in the “new Middle East”, and Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer were present.

The Israeli military confirmed earlier today that Hamas had handed over all 20 remaining hostages.

Mr Trump, speaking in Sharm el-Sheikh alongside Egypt's president, was asked about the "next steps" for Gaza.

He said: "They're going and looking for bodies. It's a pretty gruesome task. They know where numbers are. I guess five or six are in now.

"They're looking for bodies. They know the areas. They're going to be finding quite a few of them."

Mr Trump, who signed the deal shortly after, was surprisingly joined by Fifa President Infantino, with the pair posing for a photo together.

Infantino was also present for the group photo, which included many of the world leaders.

The duo seemed to create a friendly relationship during FIFA’s Club World Cup this summer, which was held in the United States. The US President even has a replica of the tournament trophy in the Oval Office.

Meanwhile, Manchester City owner, and vice president and deputy prime minister of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, was also present at the event.

During his 17-year spell at the Etihad, Sheikh Mansour has attended just two games: the first under his tenure in 2008, and the Champions League final in 2023, where he saw City complete a historic treble, becoming just the second English side to do so.

The 54-year-old also played a pivotal role in the foundation of the City Football Group in 2014 that includes Manchester City, New York City FC, Melbourne City and Girona among others.

Under his stewardship, the Cityzens have lifted eight Premier League titles - they had never won one before - along with a further 16 domestic and continental trophies, including the coveted Champions League.

Sheikh Mansour’s first foray into politics came in 1997, when he was appointed chairman of the presidential office by his father, who was President of the UAE at the time.

He also served multiple roles as a minister while serving as chairman of First Gulf Bank until 2006, before being named deputy prime minister in 2009, and second vice president in 2023.
