Fifa has cut England’s ticket allocation to as few as 3,000 a match for World Cup knockout games.

This figure represents just over four per cent of the stadium's capacity, with followers of the Three Lions demanding more.

Hundreds of thousands are expected to descend on the United States, Canada and Mexico next summer.

If England top their group, they will travel from New York to Atlanta, where the Supporters Travel Club would be allocated 3,000 seats, just 4.5 per cent of the 67,382-capacity ground, according to The Sun.

Progressing beyond the round of 32, the last-16 allocation in Mexico City on July 5 would reportedly again be 3,000, 4.1 per cent of the 72,766 seats.

The quarter-final in Miami, which could see England face Brazil, would increase the allocation to 3,500 of the 64,091-capacity.

They will then get the same for a possible semi four days later, back in Atlanta.

If they reach the final in New Jersey, England fans would be allocated 3,900 of the stadium's 78,576 seats, according to the publication.

Allocations for alternative stadiums, if the Three Lions progress to the knockout stages without topping the group, would be similar.

In the group stage games, the Football world governing body has pledged to allocate England a significantly higher eight per cent of stadium capacity.

It comes as British fans have expressed their frustrations as, on top of the ticket prices, they are facing sky-high flight and hotel prices.

Following the backlash, Fifa have announced "more affordable" World Cup tickets for all matches.

The cheapest tickets will now cost as little as £45 as part of a new "Supporter Entry Tier".

These will be available for all 104 games to supporters of qualified teams.

Fifa said: "With demand in the current sales phase achieving 20 million ticket requests, Fifa has confirmed that fans of the national teams that have qualified for the Fifa World Cup 2026 will benefit from a dedicated ticket pricing tier, which has been designed to make following their teams on football's greatest stage more affordable.

"The newly introduced Supporter Entry Tier will be available at the fixed price of USD 60 per ticket for each of the 104 matches, including the final."

It will be up to the national federations to decide how to distribute them to loyal fans who have likely attended previous games at home and on the road.

Experts have suggested that the cheapest seats for next summer's final would cost supporters more than £3,000.

Football Supporters Europe (FSE), representing fan groups across the continent, issued a furious response after pricing details emerged, describing Fifa's approach as "extortionate" in a statement.

FSE declared: "This is a monumental betrayal of the tradition of the World Cup, ignoring the contribution of supporters to the spectacle it is."
