It will be up to the national federations to decide how to distribute them to loyal fans

Fifa have announced "more affordable" World Cup tickets for all matches following backlash from raging England and Scotland fans.

The cheapest tickets will now cost as little as £45 as part of a new "Supporter Entry Tier".

These will be available for all 104 games to supporters of qualified teams.

Fifa released a statement confirming the changes.

It reads: "With demand in the current sales phase achieving 20 million ticket requests, Fifa has confirmed that fans of the national teams that have qualified for the Fifa World Cup 2026 will benefit from a dedicated ticket pricing tier, which has been designed to make following their teams on football's greatest stage more affordable.

"The newly introduced Supporter Entry Tier will be available at the fixed price of USD 60 per ticket for each of the 104 matches, including the final."

It will be up to the national federations to decide how to distribute them to loyal fans who have likely attended previous games at home and on the road.

It comes after football fan organisations demanded that Fifa immediately suspend World Cup ticket sales following revelations that the cheapest seats for next summer's final would cost supporters more than £3,000.

Football Supporters Europe (FSE), representing fan groups across the continent, issued a furious response after pricing details emerged, describing Fifa's approach as "extortionate" in a statement.

FSE declared: "This is a monumental betrayal of the tradition of the World Cup, ignoring the contribution of supporters to the spectacle it is."

The group called on football's governing body to halt sales through national associations and begin consultations with affected parties.

Tickets for the final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey are available across three price bands.

The lowest tier starts at £3,119, the middle tier at £4,162, and premium seats at £6,615.

These figures represent a dramatic increase from Qatar 2022, when the cheapest final ticket cost £450, making current prices up to seven times higher.

It also emerged that Fifa has allocated fewer tickets for the Three Lions’ World Cup opener than for Curacao, the smallest nation ever to qualify for the tournament and one with a population smaller than Milton Keynes.

For England’s opening Group L match in Dallas on June 17, supporters will be competing for just 4,022 seats, an allocation matched only by opponents Croatia.

The figure sits uneasily alongside the scale of England’s travelling fanbase, with hundreds of thousands expected to descend on the United States, Canada and Mexico next summer from a country of 58.6 million people.

By contrast, Curacao, a Dutch Caribbean island with a population of around 156,000, has been handed 4,307 tickets for its first-ever World Cup fixture against Germany on June 14.

That is 285 more seats than have been allocated to England fans, despite Curacao being roughly the size of the Isle of Wight and qualifying for the finals for the first time in history.
