Former Liverpool hero Divock Origi, who scored in the 2019 Champions League final, has retired from football at the age of 31.

Origi boasts an impressive trophy cabinet, which includes one Premier League, one FA Cup, one League Cup, one Champions League, one Super Cup and one Club World Cup.

The striker scored one of the most famous goals in Liverpool's recent history against Barcelona, as Trent Alexander-Arnold whipped in an early delivery from a corner, which Origi finished first time past Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.

In the final against Tottenham Hotspur, Origi scored the second goal in a 2-0 win, resulting in Liverpool's sixth Champions League trophy.

The Belgian, who is the youngest goalscorer at a World Cup for his nation at 19, played for five teams during his senior career.

After coming through his youth with Genk, he would break into senior football with Lille's first and second teams.

He had a couple of loan spells after being signed by Liverpool in 2014, heading back to Lille and spending a year at Wolfsburg.

He transferred to AC Milan in 2022 and spent a year on loan at Nottingham Forest from 2023 to 2024.

His contract was terminated in December 2025, as he hung up his boots on his career six months later.

Liverpool sent a message to their former striker following the announcement of his retirement.

The club wrote: "Divock Origi has announced his retirement from professional football.

"Congratulations on a brilliant career, and enjoy your retirement, Divock."

Announcing his retirement on social media, Origi wrote: "My purpose in the game is fulfilled. I lived out my childhood dreams, played on the biggest stages, won the biggest trophies.

"Grateful to God for all of it. To all my fans, the clubs, my teammates and my family: this will forever be ours. Thank you.

"The mission is complete. Now I step into my next calling. More of the journey to come. Love, Divock Origi."

Jurgen Klopp in 2021 described the Belgian as a "legend", adding: "People will write books about him."

He previously told Sky Sports: "Divock Origi, the legend, finished it off, and it's a great story.

"He's an incredible striker. For different reasons, he has not played that often, but I hope one day he finds a manager who plays him more than I do.

"He's one of the best finishers I've ever seen in my life. He doesn't play all the time, but he is a very positive boy, loves the club, wants to contribute, and he did in an incredible way."
