Tottenham defender Cristian Romero launched a scathing attack on the club's hierarchy through Instagram following their defeat at Bournemouth, accusing unnamed figures of spreading "lies" before later removing the inflammatory reference from his post.
The 27-year-old Argentine took to social media after Spurs fell 3-2 to the Cherries, directing his frustration at those within the club who he claims only make themselves visible during successful periods.
Romero's original message, shared with his 5.1 million followers, contained pointed criticism of individuals who "only show up when things are going well, to tell a few lies" — wording he subsequently deleted from the post.
In his Instagram statement, Romero offered an apology to supporters who travel to follow the team, writing: "Apologies to all fans of you who follow us everywhere, who are always there and will continue to be."

Manager Frank also found himself in an uncomfortable situation before kick-off when he was photographed drinking from an Arsenal-branded cup.
He has, however, since downplayed the controversy - insisting that it was merely a mistake.
