Burnley have identified Christian Eriksen as a potential signing to bolster their Premier League survival hopes, with the club understood to have established preliminary contact with the Danish midfielder.
The 33-year-old became available on a free transfer following his departure from Manchester United at the conclusion of last season.
The Clarets, who secured automatic promotion alongside Leeds United from the Championship last term, view Eriksen's vast top-flight experience as a valuable asset in their bid to remain in the Premier League.

Turkish clubs have also expressed interest, with Fenerbahce offering a reunion with Jose Mourinho, whilst Besiktas and Trabzonspor have similarly pursued the midfielder.
However, Eriksen has made his preferences clear through his representative Martin Schoots, who stated: "Christian still wants to play in a first-tier competition and he absolutely wants to stay in Western Europe.
"There are some contacts going on but it has to suit both sides."
Proposals from Brazil, the Middle East and America are therefore considered unlikely to succeed.
Eriksen brings considerable pedigree to any potential suitor, having secured four league titles and two domestic cups throughout his career spanning the Netherlands, England and Italy. The midfielder's extensive experience includes spells at Ajax, Tottenham and Brentford before his recent stint at Old Trafford.
Despite Burnley's interest, the Danish international maintains other options across Europe. German and Spanish clubs have reportedly shown interest in securing his services.
The midfielder has previously indicated his ambition to continue competing at the highest level, with aspirations of featuring in the 2026 World Cup remaining a motivating factor in his career decisions.
Burnley have invested more than £60 million across eight acquisitions during the current transfer window, demonstrating their commitment to establishing a competitive squad.

The Lancashire club anticipate further additions before the window's conclusion next month.
Parker's appointment represents a fresh approach following Vincent Kompany's tenure, which ended with relegation two years ago.
Intriguingly, both Parker and Eriksen share Tottenham connections, though their paths never crossed at the North London club.
Parker departed Spurs in the summer of 2013, mere days before Eriksen's arrival from Ajax, creating a near-miss between the two players who could potentially unite at Turf Moor.
